How to Read or Listen

There are several options on how to read or listen to The Last Handful of Clover!

Although the primary community has been built around my Patreon page, I’m committed to ensuring that everyone who wants to read this story has the opportunity to do so.  If you are in a position to support me as an author, I will be extremely grateful.  But I’ll also be grateful for any pair of eyes (or ears!) that take the time to share this work with me.

Below I’ll provide step-by-step guidance on how to join up and become a part of this story’s life.

Three places to READ the books:

Patreon is a membership site, where each month an artist’s supporters (“patrons”) contribute a few dollars to their work.  In return for that support, the artist (me!) promises to provide access to their creative products.  In this case, a Patreon membership will allow you to read the entire trilogy for about the cost of a cup of coffee every month.

All six support levels receive the same benefits, with the upper tiers there for folks who want to add extra support.  In addition to the novels, I also publish new poetry and stories every week.

Just browse the support levels, and decide where you’d like to join.

Here are the steps to join Patreon:

  1. Visit Patreon at http://patreon.com/signup.
  2. Create a username, and use your e-mail address and a unique password to create an account.
  3. Once you’re signed up, go to http://patreon.com/WessMongoJolley.
  4. Browse the patron levels and decide on a level of support.  Click on the Join button for that level.
  5. At this stage you’ll need to enter your credit card information in order to confirm your membership.
  6. YOU ARE A PATRON!  Thank you!!!!

Wattpad is a huge community of authors that span the gamut.  You’ll find established novelists, new poets, kids keeping journals, short story writers, purveyors of fan fiction, and pretty much everything else you can imagine!  It’s a fun and vibrant community that supports each others’ work and has been the launch pad for lots of authors that have found publishing and even movie deals.

If you want to read the books for free, then Wattpad is your platform of choice! The only drawback is that you will have to endure some ads.

Here are the steps to join Wattpad:

  1. Go to http://www.wattpad.com and click on the Log In button in the upper right corner.
  2. Click on the small sign up link at the bottom of the box that pops up.
  3. You can log in with your Facebook or Google account, or click on the Sign up with e-mail button.
  4. Create a user name, and provide your e-mail and a password.  You’ll also need to enter your birthdate (since some Wattpad content is rated “mature”).
  5. Once your account is active, go to http://wattpad.com/WessMongoJolley.  You’ll be able to see my three books, and click on any one to start reading!
  6. Wattpad will remember your place as your read, and you can take advantage of all the great features, such as leaving comments, liking books or chapters, and finding other great new authors.

It’s kind of like “Tales of the City”—if Mrs. Madrigal was a supernatural serial killer, and the residents of Barbary Lane wanted to burn San Francisco to the ground….

I’m thrilled to have offered TLHOC as a serial through Q Salt Lake Magazine, as a bi-weekly feature on their website. Now that the serialization is complete, the entire trilogy is available there for reading.

To read the books on QSaltLake.com:

  1. Simply follow this link: https://www.qsaltlake.com/news/author/wess-mongo-jolley/.  All the chapters will be listed there.

Unfortunately, there is no system for bookmarks, or keeping track of the chapters you have and haven’t read.  You’ll just have to make a note of where you are.  If you enjoy the book, and want a more traditional e-book reading experience, I suggest you sign up with Patreon (above).  Patrons can get copies of the books for their Kindle.  WattPad is also free, and provides a good reading experience (and keeps track of where you stop).

Two places to LISTEN to the audiobooks:

The entire audiobook of the trilogy (almost seventy hours!) is now available via podcast, narrated by the author.  This is a great opportunity for those of you who are used to listening to podcasts to get the audiobook.

How to Subscribe to the TLHOC Podcast:

You can search for and find the podcast through nearly every podcast aggregator out there!    The easiest way is just to find the show on your favorite aggregator (iTunes, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, etc.) and click subscribe.

Everyone thinks of YouTube as only hosting video, but it’s actually a pretty good place to host audio!
